Quite a number of C8 users have been having problems upgrading their phones, even to the HIOS for Tecno C8 . To make upgrading easier, Team Hovatek has made a ROM Dump of a Tecno C8 running on Marshmallow, thereby, making the C8 Marshmallow update SP Flash tool compatible.

Note: This is not an official firmware from Tecno. Team Hovatek dumped the firmware of its copy of the Tecno C8 which had been successfully upgraded to Marshmallow (Android 6.0) using the above guide.


How can I upgrade my Tecno C8 to Marshmallow (Android 6.0) using SP Flash tool?

Extract the content of the zip file into a folder
Install Mediatek VCOM Drivers on your PC
Following the SP flash tool guide here

flash the ROMDump using the Firmware Upgrade option in SP Flash Tool
Boot the phone once flashing is complete.

Setup the phone then go to Settings > About to confirm that your Tecno Camon C8 is now running on Marshmallow.

With SPD Upgrade Tool, You can easily flash firmware, upgrade firmware, remove pattern lock and google account, many other options like adding multiple languages and configuring LCD.

If you want to flash any spreadtrum device with this tool, follow the procedures below.


Download and install spreadtrum drivers from here


Download and extract SPD Upgrade Tool.


Inside the extracted file launch UpgradeDownload


Click load packet icon.


Select the .PAC file of the spreadtrum device you want to flash or upgrade.


Click on settings icon


Uncheck all box in calibration tab.


Tick erase all flash in flash operation tab (optional).


Close settings.


Click play or Download button.


Hold volume down button & connect the device to the computer.


When the blue progress bar is seen, release the volume button.


Process is complete when the word PASSED in green colour is seen.

After clicking the Play button, turn your phone off and hold volume down then connect it to pc.you see no progress on your pc screen, then you need to reinstall the spd drivers properly
